Virginia Transformer Delivers Four Units to North Dakota Cooperative
Central Power Electric Cooperative has received four new power distribution transformers as part of an initiative to improve electrical grid reliability in North Dakota. The equipment was supplied by Virginia Transformer Corp., a U.S.-based transformer manufacturer.
The units — rated at 5/7 MVA, 43.8/13.2 kV — were delivered to Central Power's operations in Minot, North Dakota, where they will help supply consistent and efficient power to the city and surrounding areas.
Founded in 1949, Central Power Electric Cooperative serves as a wholesale power provider to six rural electric distribution cooperatives. Its network spans 25 counties and supports more than 67,000 homes, farms, and businesses in central and southeastern North Dakota.
The sale and coordination were led by Jacob Edland, a manufacturers’ representative from EUSCO, who collaborated with the transformer company’s design, manufacturing, and logistics teams to complete the delivery on schedule.
Virginia Transformer stated that its products are designed for a 60-year operational lifespan and are delivered with some of the industry's shortest lead times.
This delivery marks a continued partnership between equipment suppliers and utility cooperatives working to modernize rural power infrastructure across the country.
