It aims to provide additional capacity to accommodate low-carbon technologies such as EV chargers, solar panels, and heat pumps.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1033\" data-end=\"1211\">The programme, running until the end of the decade, will support or create <strong data-start=\"1108\" data-end=\"1137\">at least 300 skilled jobs<\/strong>, with work to be carried out across nine sub-regions in the license area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1213\" data-end=\"1472\">Five delivery partners have been selected following a competitive tender process: <strong data-start=\"1295\" data-end=\"1323\">OCU Utility Services Ltd<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1325\" data-end=\"1339\">Clancy Ltd<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1341\" data-end=\"1362\">Freedom Group Ltd<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1364\" data-end=\"1390\">Macaulay Askernish Ltd<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"1396\" data-end=\"1411\">Brush Group<\/strong> (including <strong data-start=\"1423\" data-end=\"1448\">KUS Power Engineering<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1453\" data-end=\"1470\">McGowan Group<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1474\" data-end=\"1803\"><strong data-start=\"1474\" data-end=\"1489\">Fraser Hood<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1491\" data-end=\"1536\">SSEN\u2019s Director of Large Capital Delivery<\/strong>, said: <em data-start=\"1544\" data-end=\"1803\">\u201cThe transformative investment we\u2019re making means we\u2019re in the best-possible position to deliver an electricity system which will support sustainable economic growth, benefit the environment in the decades to come, and create significant job opportunities.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1805\" data-end=\"1982\">The upgrade supports <strong data-start=\"1826\" data-end=\"1857\">SSEN\u2019s RIIO-ED2 commitments<\/strong> and the <strong data-start=\"1866\" data-end=\"1926\">SSE Group\u2019s Net Zero Acceleration Programme Plus (NZAP+)<\/strong>, with the Scottish Government welcoming the initiative.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1984\" data-end=\"2236\"><strong data-start=\"1984\" data-end=\"2006\">Gillian Martin MSP<\/strong>, Acting Cabinet Secretary for Net Zero and Energy, stated: <em data-start=\"2064\" data-end=\"2236\">\u201cI welcome this substantial investment\u2026 which will not only bring benefits for our workforce, our supply chains, and our economies but also support our net zero targets.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Source:&nbsp;ssen.co.uk<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SSEN Distribution is set to invest \u00a3450 million in upgrading electricity distribution infrastructure across the north of Scotland, in a move designed to improve network resilience and support the region\u2019s path to net zero. &nbsp; The investment will enhance the existing system by replacing wooden poles and overhead lines, modernising substations, and reinforcing underground networks.
