The project, currently over 30% complete, is set to deliver renewable energy to approximately 500,000 homes in New York once operational in 2027.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"649\" data-end=\"1018\"><strong data-start=\"649\" data-end=\"666\">Anders Opedal<\/strong>, President and CEO of <strong data-start=\"689\" data-end=\"704\">Equinor ASA<\/strong>, expressed appreciation for the coordinated efforts that led to the resumption, highlighting contributions from both U.S. and Norwegian officials. The project has garnered support from multiple stakeholders, including <strong data-start=\"923\" data-end=\"948\">Governor Kathy Hochul<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"950\" data-end=\"984\">New York City Mayor Eric Adams<\/strong>, and several members of Congress.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1020\" data-end=\"1241\"><strong data-start=\"1020\" data-end=\"1036\">Molly Morris<\/strong>, President of <strong data-start=\"1051\" data-end=\"1070\">Equinor Wind US<\/strong>, emphasized the project&#8217;s national economic footprint, citing supply chain investments across states such as New York, Louisiana, Texas, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1243\" data-end=\"1402\"><strong data-start=\"1243\" data-end=\"1254\">Equinor<\/strong> plans to reassess the project&#8217;s economics in Q2 2025 and continue preparations for its offshore installation activities slated for later this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1404\" data-end=\"1553\">The Empire Wind lease was first awarded in 2017, with project financing secured in 2024.
