The initiative includes the construction of <strong data-start=\"493\" data-end=\"518\">three new substations<\/strong> and the addition of <strong data-start=\"539\" data-end=\"573\">22 miles of transmission lines<\/strong>, improving reliability and capacity for over <strong data-start=\"619\" data-end=\"645\">42,000 NYSEG customers<\/strong>.<\/h5>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"648\" data-end=\"1062\">This investment is part of Avangrid\u2019s broader strategy under the <strong data-start=\"713\" data-end=\"750\">2023 Reliable Energy NY Rate Plan<\/strong>, which has already committed <strong data-start=\"780\" data-end=\"796\">$582 million<\/strong> to 265 electric and gas infrastructure projects across New York. The newly announced work in Ithaca includes significant upgrades to transformers and the installation of capacitor banks across several substations, aiming to reduce outages and support future demand.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1064\" data-end=\"1368\"><strong data-start=\"1064\" data-end=\"1080\">Pedro Azagra<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1082\" data-end=\"1101\">CEO of Avangrid<\/strong>, stated the project is a critical step toward modernizing New York&#8217;s aging energy systems. \u201cThrough our larger <strong data-start=\"1213\" data-end=\"1252\">$20 billion investment through 2030<\/strong>, Avangrid will help ensure communities have the reliable and resilient energy needed to grow and prosper,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1370\" data-end=\"1670\"><strong data-start=\"1370\" data-end=\"1389\">Patricia Nilsen<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1391\" data-end=\"1452\">President and CEO of NYSEG and Rochester Gas and Electric<\/strong>, added that the upgrades will also enable regional growth and economic development.
