TotalEnergies has officially inaugurated its largest solar power facility in Europe, a 263 MW cluster located near Seville, Spain. The installation comprises five solar projects that together generate 515 GWh annually—enough to power over 150,000 Spanish homes.

The project, declared of strategic interest by the Junta de Andalucía, features 400,000 bifacial solar panels equipped with trackers. The development has created 800 direct and indirect jobs and involved 14 companies, with more than half based in Seville.

According to Olivier Jouny, Senior Vice President Renewables at TotalEnergies, the project supports Spain’s goal of achieving 80% renewable energy in its electricity mix by 2030. The majority of the energy produced will be sold through long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs), with the remainder entering the wholesale market.

The solar plant is part of TotalEnergies’ broader strategy to build a diversified and resilient Integrated Power portfolio, which includes renewables and flexible assets like CCGTs and storage. As of March 2025, the company has 28 GW of gross renewable capacity and aims to reach 35 GW by year-end.
