ELSEWEDY ELECTRIC Power System Projects (PSP) and Siemens Energy have signed an agreement for the supply of SF6-free gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) as part of the Jawharat Al Aros 110/13.8 kV substation project, awarded by Saudi Electricity Company (SEC).

This collaboration marks the first deployment of SF6-free Blue GIS technology in Saudi Arabia and the broader Middle East region. The project aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 sustainability goals by reducing environmental impact while maintaining operational performance.

Under the agreement, ELSEWEDY ELECTRIC PSP will deliver full EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) services, including design, engineering, supply, construction, installation, testing, and commissioning. The substation will include 13 bays of SF6-free Blue GIS and three 110/13.8 kV, 50/67 MVA power transformers.

This initiative demonstrates both companies’ commitment to driving the energy transition through the adoption of sustainable technologies. It represents a significant advancement for the region’s power infrastructure, offering enhanced grid performance with lower environmental impact.

The project is expected to play a key role in building a more resilient, low-carbon energy network in line with Saudi Arabia’s national development and environmental strategies.
