Virginia Transformer Delivers High-Capacity Unit to Montana Utility
Flathead Electric Cooperative, the largest electric cooperative in Montana, has upgraded its infrastructure with a new high-capacity transformer from Virginia Transformer Corporation. The unit, a 15/25 MVA, 230/12.47 kV power distribution transformer, was recently delivered to the cooperative's site in Lakeside, Montana.
Manufactured at VTCU’s facility in Pocatello, Idaho, the transformer is engineered for a 60-year service life and is expected to improve long-term power reliability throughout the Flathead Valley, Libby, and surrounding regions. The delivery supports Flathead Electric Cooperative’s mission to maintain a robust and resilient grid across more than 5,000 miles of overhead and underground lines.
Founded in 1937, Flathead Electric serves a wide swath of northern Montana and ranks as the second-largest energy utility in the state.
Virginia Transformer Corporation, a U.S.-based power transformer manufacturer, highlighted this delivery as part of its ongoing support for electrical cooperatives nationwide. The sale was led by Tim Lish, manufacturers’ representative at Pacific Power Reps.
The company emphasized its commitment to short lead times, engineering precision, and high-quality production standards aimed at ensuring power stability in key regions.
